About Bahar Keshavarz
Bahar Keshavarz is a Dubai-based mixed media abstract artist creating emotionally charged work that blends abstraction, portraiture, texture, and instinct. Her paintings explore identity, emotion, and human tension through layered surfaces, expressive marks, and raw movement.
I turn emotion into color and chaos into form.
My work transforms emotion into layered worlds of color, texture, and movement. I create contemporary paintings that merge abstraction, portraiture, and emotional storytelling balancing instinct with spontaneity, softness with tension, and beauty with unrest.
Working intuitively, I build each piece through energetic marks, raw surfaces, luminous color, and expressive gestures. I embrace drips, interruptions, and accidental forms as part of the process, allowing each painting to evolve organically rather than through rigid control.
Figures appear fragmented and fleeting, existing less as literal portraits and more as emotional presences shaped by memory, identity, femininity, freedom, and resilience. Through the tension between chaos and structure, my work captures moments that feel both deeply personal and universally human.
Texture plays a central role in my practice. I scratch, conceal, reveal, and rebuild layers over time, creating surfaces that carry traces of movement, emotion, and transformation. Vibrant palettes often collide with darker undertones, reflecting the complexity of inner experience.
At its core, my work is driven by feeling before explanation — an invitation for the viewer to pause, reflect, and connect through emotion rather than certainty.
